Darlene has been playing music since 4th grade. Beginning with the recorder and clarinet, she found her love of playing music with others. She moved on to the piano in middle school and began singing in choir in high school. Minoring in music at Roanoke College, Darlene was in both choirs (the women’s choir and the college choir) and continued studying piano. After college, she began singing with church choirs. In 2020, Darlene started learning to play the cello. Darlene now plays with the SMC Orchestra, is a member of Angel City Chorale (soprano), and is a ringer for a local church choir. Notable choral performances include Mozart’s Requiem with the Oriana Singers (women’s choir at Roanoke College) and the UVA Men’s Glee Club, Vivaldi’s Gloria with the Oriana Singers, Handel’s Messiah with the Roanoke College Choir, and Christopher Tin’s Calling All Dawns with Angel City Chorale and Marina Del Rey Symphony.
