A lifelong storyteller, Darlene Harris is a trained actor and soprano with a light, higher register voice. She finds much joy in bringing characters to life in fantasy, young adult, romance, historical fiction, and nonfiction.

Originally from Baltimore, MD, she fell in love with the arts the moment her parents enrolled her in dance classes at the age of 4. By high school, she had studied the recorder, the clarinet, the piano and discovered her passion for the theater. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theater with a minor in Music with honors from Roanoke College in Salem, VA.

An avid reader, she is particularly drawn to stories that explore the American Dream, like The Great Gatsby and Revolutionary Road, and stories that are political and social commentaries, like The Hunger Games and Fourth Wing. From high stakes in fantasy and young adult, to strong female characters in historical fiction and romance, to intrigue in mystery and suspense, she draws the listener into the story while bringing forward the author’s intention.

A lover of history, the arts, education, politics, and travel, she breathes authenticity into nonfiction works, showcasing the author’s expertise and passion.

When not recording in her professional home studio in Los Angeles, you can find her playing the cello in a local orchestra, traveling, crocheting, reading, or rewatching some of her favorite movies and TV shows like Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean, Outlander, and Harry Potter.
